'09' MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION & CHANGES

HELLO EVERY ONE
I picked a large amount of fresh oregano today -- if anyone would like some and coming by in the next couple days -- before I have to dry it.
I am getting so many e-mails with questions about getting a Membership for the 2009 CSA here at Blooming Patches Farm.
I am writing this up to try and answer as many of your questions as I can. If you have more question or Interest in a membership you can always
e-mail me at - bloomingpatches@windstream.com
or call me any time at: 216-276-1715.
2009 Memberships are at $300.00 or $150.00 for the year.
Membership is non-refundable
This is like you bought a gift card. Which ever membership size you choose to start with you will have a ledger with that amount then every time you come to the farm you will take the amount off of you membership prepaid balance.
Example:
Bought a full membership of $300.00
First time to the farm you got :
1# of Beets ------- $1.50
1# of Green Beans ---- ------- $1.50
1# of peas ----------$2.50
1# Okra ---- $1.50
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total spent that pick up day is: $7.00
Paid Membership of $300.00
- $7.00
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Pre Paid Balance of $293.00
You just keep going that way all summer.
There will be two pick up days a week one will be on Sunday and then a week day. Pick up time is from 2 P.M. till 8P.M.
I have a web site a member made for me this year that you can go to and get more information on the farm and the CSA. There is also the form you will have to fill out for your Membership on the web page.
www.bloomingpatches.com
I also have a blog I use for the members. I keep some farm news on there as well as produce list of what is in at that time.
If you want to place an order for pick up day you would see what is on the blog. Then send me by e-mail to bloomingpatches@windstream.net
Two days before pick up day what you would like to get and about how much.
Then I better know how much I have to pick for the day. Less waste as some things keep better on the plant then after it is picked.
This year memberships include Produce, herbs and cut flowers.
(produce is all vegetables, greens, melons all grown here)

Eggs, Chicken, Berries and fruit will be cash items. As I have them they will be offered. You may still get the large amounts of berries for putting up when they come in.
THIS YEAR you will get a ledge to keep your own records if you like. The ledger here at the farm will be kept in a mail slot. Each time you come to pick up you or I will take the time to enter the amount spent that day before you leave this will help to keep the records up and you informed to your balance.
When I pick I will be packing up everything that sells by the pound into 1#, 3# and 5# packages, things sold by the ounce will be in 1oz., 3oz.and 8oz. packages. Things like winter squash, pumpkins and melons may have to be weight at pick up time. I will help with filling the orders for the ones that come for large groups. But, everyone is going to need to fill their order and make sure we record your amount spent. This will be your working part instead of having to put any hours out in the field like some of the other CSA’s.
: When you bring bags, boxes or egg cartons to be reused
PLEASE NO DIRTY TORN UP ONES
not all of these items do I have a place to recycle these non usable items so they just add to my garbage- which if you don’t live in the city you know I have to pay for this service so I try to have as little as possible.
Sometimes crops come ripe day of picking so I pick them and they will be out here for you to add to your order if you like, or if it is something that has only small amounts ready to pick I will have out also.
Please no chasing or yelling at the chickens as if they get scared too much they stop laying eggs for a couple days. Also, heat- diet change- adding new chickens are just some of the things that can stress them out then they stop laying for a couple days.
Will have a spring members pot luck again this spring – may wait till like second week of June. Although some cut flowers, herbs and greens will have started or completed before the pot luck you will may of already come out. The pot luck is a good way to see the farm, meet some of the other members, a lot of food talk. Many members do health related work – nutrition, alternative medicine, therapy. Swap cooking and preserving ideas. Many families home school and enjoy talking about that as well. Everyone usually has a great day and we all get to try some different and interesting foods being a pot luck. I provide mint teas, coffee and water. Have some of our organic bake goods for you to try as well as usually a few extras to sell. Will have whatever is ready to pick – picked and out so if you like you can shop some. Will have some of the local cheese to taste and buy. ALSO HAVE my sisters 100% bees wax candles, folks wood fret work and more out to see and sell. The day usually keeps me pretty busy so I don’t get much time to spend with anyone. I try!
