Where to find listing of produce in ---- Members

# Where to find what Produce is in?
Soon I will be up dating the blog site twice a week with what is coming in and what has ended. So please look there for new news. Right now I am very busy getting the computer set up, members files set up, planting, new chicks, new green house taking care of plants. Along with everyday up keep working the fields to plant. Right now it is mostly trimmings on some of the plants like lettuce, arugla, spinach. Do have oregano, chocolate mint garden mint, some sorrel, chives. Cut flowers and eggs.
It is still early for produce and with these cold days and nights things grow slow.
New Plans for Pick up’s
This year I will be making a cooler in the grainery as well as Dad is going to make boxes for everyone. I will be putting your orders in the wooden boxes, you will have to bring your own cooler, bags, boxes what ever to take your produce home. This way I don’t have to take up all my room trying to store boxes and bags.
So this year I will not need your recycle boxes -- you can recycle them. Thank you.
I will still take clean reusable egg cartons. That will help keep the cost of eggs down.
Also, my daughter-in-law said she will put a spread sheet on my blog with the produce listed. Then you will be able to go to the blog copy then paste in an e-mail to me with the items checked you want and the amount of each item. That should make it easier for you members as well as less paper work for me. I will be able to print them out when you send them to me that will be what I use to fill your order and make you a receipt.
Groups for Pick Up
I have not sent out the full list to you all again so that you can make up your groups. Here are the areas I have so far looking to make groups.
Cleveland Hts./ University Hts.
Kirtland,-------Willoughby/ Willoughby Hills --Mentor -- Solon --- Richmond Hts. ---- South Euclid ---- Chardon ---- Thompson --- Warren --- Kent --- Beechwood
I will look I believe I have a couple more areas.
If you would like send me an e-mail this week if you want to be on one of these or if you have your own area you want to do.
Will be doing that work this weekend and be sending out the e-mails to everyone for that.
Berries
Strawberries will start in June usually the latest is the second week of June they go for 4 to 6 weeks. .
Chickens are doing good..
Now my young hens have started laying. The eggs are small as they always are when they first start to lay. But, they will get up to size.
Have seed in the ground for the past month am planting yet onions and potatoes today. Cabbage tomorrow.
Have 5 month old chicks and 23 to hatch out with luck around the 2 of June. .
Summer will be here..
I know the sun makes you feel like the garden is in full growth. But, the ground has to get warm for the plants to grow. Even if you put in early and cover with plastic they do not grow much or well. I don’t do the early plastic growing. I get things that I can started early in the green house and cold boxes so they have a good start in the ground once it comes time to plant.
Once it gets started it will go strong. I am looking forward to a great summer . I know I will be crazy busy but, it will be worth it and in years to come one by one should get easier.
THANK YOU ALL AND LOOK FORWARD TO THIS SEASON. BARB

CSA POT LUCK DAY

Hi
This years CSA Members Pot Luck Day is going to be May 18th. Starts at Noon till ?
Bring a dish to pass and come to the farm meet some of the other Members, see some of the farm.
I will have some teas, our bake goods (give you a chance to take a taste).
If you have some information you want to share about better health bring it with you.
Please no pets.
No going into or opening Chicken coupe or fences. (Chicken wire (fence) is a very light wire it bends and tears easy, so please no leaning or pulling.) Besides you don't want to scare the hens too much or they will not lay eggs for a few days.
Please Keep an eye on your children. We will be in the back yard. Our road is very busy and fast, so our house rule has always been no children in the front yard.
Turn around before going out of the drive.
Last year was nice. Look forward to seeing everyone.
