Farm Up-Date and Produce Prices

Hello everyone Hope you all have been keeping warm.
Got my soil sample back and of course I have to add to the soil -- that is endless.
Time to start my seeds in the green house (a friends green house I use).
Those of you that had ordered Chicken with your 2007 CSA membership I still have some of the young tender ones in the freezer waiting to hear from you.
In a week I will be doing the young roasters about a dozen. That will be it for chicken till mid summer. I will be too busy planting and getting the ground ready to be doing chickens in May and June.
BE SURE AND CHECK THE "OLDER POST" ON HERE (BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER OF THIS POST CLICK ON IT) AS BACK A FEW IS THE INFORMATION FORM TO READ AND FILL OUT FOR NEW 2008 MEMBERSHIPS.
I did get hooked up with a local Bed and Breakfast/ Local food cooking Classes.
Also, will be with Fresh Fork Market. You may have seen them in the Paper a few weeks ago.

I want to list here to help some of the new Members see what they will be able to get and the cost for produce. I will not have everything listed here but, I am putting some of what comes to mind right now.
Carrots - $1.25 a lb.
Rhubarb -- $2.25 a lb.
Beans (green, yellow, purple) --- Sweet Peppers & Bell peppers --- $1.50 a lb.
Hot Peppers -- $1.75 a lb.
Sweet Corn -- $3.50 a dz.
Okra -- $1.50 a lb
Leaf lettuce, baby Spinach, other baby greens -- .40 cents an oz.
Large greens as turnip, collard, mustard --- .80 cents a lb.
Melons from $2.50 to $5.00 each
Herbs -- $2.00 an oz.
Mints -- $2.00 for 3 oz.
Eggs -- $2.00 a dz.
TILL I SEE HOW THE CHICKENS ARE LAYING I WILL KEEP A RECORD TO MAKE SURE EVERY ONE THAT WANTS EGGS GETS AT LEAST 2 DOZEN A MONTH.
I WILL BE ASKING LATER WHOM ALL WILL BE INTERESTED IN CHICKEN MEAT AS I KNOW NOT EVERY ONE EATS MEAT. THIS WAY I CAN BETTER FIGURE HOW MANY CHICKENS EVERYONE WILL BE ABLE TO GET FOR THE YEAR.
I will be doing chicken in mid summer and then in the fall I usually do young fryers and my year old hens.
Happy Easter to all that believe in Easter.
